Come Fishing with Us

When winter comes, fly fishermen have two options until the next season of floating rivers. The first is to take advantage of the Chinooks we have in Calgary and fish slow runs where the fish stack up, or to try the deep pools with slow, deep sinking lines to wake the fish from their hibernation in these deep watery caves. The second is to don the ski-doo suit, grab the auger and ice hut, and go ice fishing. Ice fishing has a long history throughout the world, and is an enjoyable way to spend the winter months and put some food on the table and in the smoker. Its also a good way for fly fishermen to watch the fish they chase in summer, and see how they react to certain flies, different actions, and to see how many fish are actually down there.

Winter Walk and Wade
Our "Chinook Walk and Wades" take place on the Bow River, and are weather dependent. They will only be run if the mercury is above zero. If we have had a week of good weather, then we will still run trips if the temperature is slightly below zero for a day or two. We know were the deepest pools are with the slowest moving waters to give you a chance to get your streamer or nymphs down deep. Our goal is to catch a fish on a fly rod every month of the year. We have many double digit fish days in February! Try for your own bragging rights with us.

Winter Walk and Wade Rates

Ice Fishing
We offer two types of trips to accommodate any type of ice fisherman.

Trip #1 - Come enjoy a relaxing day in a warm ice hut. We'll take you to our favorite lakes where we have used topographical maps, sonar, and years of experience to choose the location of our huts to insure a good day on the ice. We provide transportation, hot lunch, snacks, beverages, rods, lures, and bait. We will auger your holes for you with our 3h.p. power augers, and will be using a Vexilar sonar unit to help locate where the fish are feeding. We also have Aqua-Vu underwater video cameras to watch the fish take your lure.

Trip #2 - Fast and Furious - a day of searching for fish with a portable ice shelter, sonar, a power auger, and an Aqua-Vu underwater video camera. Get fishing right away and relax as we turn the lake into Swiss-cheese with the power auger while you move from hole to hole bringing in fish. We provide transportation, hot lunch, snacks, beverages, rods, lures, and bait. We have heaters for all of our tents if the weather is cold. If the weather is decent we often leave the ice tent in the truck and each angler gets a bucket with a padded swivel seat so we can move at the drop of a toque!

Trip Information

We offer a first class experience with great food, professional guides, and all the gear you require - including flies and lures! Trips begin with pick-up from your hotel, a local fly shop, or location of your choice. We will then take you to obtain a fishing license if you require one. Pick-up time will vary according to weather, time of year, and recent fishing trends. A typical full day will last 8 - 10 hours, while a typical half day will last 4 - 5 hours. We can always adjust these times to suit your needs.

Winter Walk and Wade
Trips include all fishing gear- including flies, and are for one or two anglers. Additional person $50. Max 4 people.

Ice Fishing
Trips include all fishing gear and tackle, and are for one or two anglers. Additional person $50. Ask about large groups.

Fishing licenses and optional gratuities are not included.

A 25% deposit is required upon booking, and payment in full is due in advance of, or on the day of your trip. Payment for multi-day trips are due before or at the completion of each day.

Cancellation – Deposit is fully refundable with 30 days advance notice. If less than 30 days notice is given, your deposit may be put toward another trip within the same calendar year.

Pick up and drop off will be discussed with you prior to your arrival. Don't hesitate to call us to review times and places.

Family Packages - When you bring one person under 14 on the trip you will receive a 5% discount. Teach a kid to fish. Share some of our heritage with your kids to keep this sport alive in the future.

Multi-Day Bookings - When you book three or more days with us during one year, you will receive a 10% discount on all trips.
